Laura Burke
I have always been and always will be a storyteller. Since childhood, I have dreamed of becoming an author. Now, as I see my stories in print, my dream has become my reality.
Since I was eight years old, mysteries have been my passion, especially murder mysteries. So much so, that after working as a nurse for twenty years, I became a Private Investigator. I worked in close contact with police officers and detectives on several closed-case files with amazing results.
I currently reside in Florida with my husband. I have two children, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. I am working on my next novel on the Masson Murder Series.

- Book review
Murder in Camouflage by Laura Burke is the third book in the series featuring Jolene Johnson as she solves yet another challenging cold case with the help of FBI Agents Haines and Blay. Known as JJ in her hometown, where her father is the chief of police, Jolene takes on a chilling mystery involving murder victims found stuffed in army duffel bags and buried in abandoned properties. In this new case, she has the added prestige of an FBI badge bestowed upon her for helping solve two cold cases. What troubles Jolene most in this case is the heartless indifference shown by the original investigating officers. As she grapples with this, Jolene and her team of FBI agents must also navigate the looming threat to their lives as they close in on the mastermind behind the murders.
In Murder in Camouflage by Laura Burke, Jolene is the driving force behind the whole narrative. Her forceful nature, relentless determination, and deep empathy for the victims fueled the investigation and pushed the plot forward. Her unwavering refusal to accept the apathy of the previous investigators added an emotional depth to the story and deeply resonated with me. The author explored various themes within this story, with justice and accountability being paramount. The novel also touched on grief and loss, especially the emotional burden that unsolved cases place on the families of the victims. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy crime and detective stories with a strong and emotionally engaging female lead.

“Very good story about life’s struggles and triumphs. I could really relate to this book. I wish this were available on an audiobook platform. I am interested to see what the author comes up with next. Hopefully, this is not a one and done.”

“Once I got into the book, I couldn’t put it down. Many believers have walked this walk that the character walks. Knowing peace, “Fighting Peace” love and peace.”

It’s one square mile of gorgeous turn of the century homes, a quaint main street filled with mom and pop stores and restaurants… and even – the Flying Horse Carousel! So When a mysterious black Orchid begins blossoming on the beach and bringing death to this beautiful town…. it’s an amazing juxtaposition that will keep your turning the pages of Laura Burke’s fascinating novel: “Black Orchid.”
